Pennsylvania State Capitol

Pennsylvania State Capitol is a notable landmark rooted in downtown Harrisburg. Created by architect Joseph Miller Huston in 1902 and constructed in 1906, it is an astonishing structure in a Beaux-Arts style, ornate with Renaissance elements. The exterior is five stories high, faced with Vermont granite, with a roof made of green glazed terra cotta tile. Pay special attention to the Capitol's magnificent 272-foot, 52 million-pound dome influenced by Michelangelo's design for St. Peter's Basilica in Rome.
